The Moeris watch factory was founded by Fritz Moeri and his brother-in-law Albert Jeanneret in Saint-Imier in 1892.
After the death of his partner in 1899, Moeri took over sole management of his company, now called Fabrique des Montres Moeri SA. Thanks to new mechanical processes, this factory produced perfectly interchangeable parts, marking a major advance in watchmaking. In 1901, he had a large factory built, which became Fabrique des Montres Mœris F. Moeri SA in 1918. Retired from business, he settled in Geneva.

Fritz Moeri was one of the first to introduce methods of machining the movement blank and finishing it, moving resolutely into mechanical watchmaking, which he was one of the first to design and produce. Moeris has produced a multitude of models under different brands.
A member of the Board of the Saint-imier watchmaking school from 1896 to 1916, he was one of the founders of the school's mechanical engineering division.

Moeris is best known for the James Bond 007 licensed model released in 1966.
In 1978, Moeris closed its doors and, in 1980, ownership of Moeris and all its patents were transferred to Tissot. At that time, the company concentrated on skeletonized pocket watches and quartz pendant watches for ladies.

This is a magnificent paper cutter with a handle featuring the Moeris brand. It appears to date from the 1920s.
The handle is signed by the famous Huguenin et Frères company, which manufactures a variety of watchmaking items, including cases for Omega, Eberhard & co and Universal Genève.
This piece is in incredible condition and finesse.
