BOOK ITALIAN LIGHTING DESIGN 1945-2000
€ 180.00
Book written by Alberto Bassi. The history of lighting design in Italy through a rich catalog of works, biographies of designers and company profiles.
Italian lamps are among the most famous design products in the world: designers such as the Castiglioni brothers, Vico Magistretti, Gino Sarfatti and Pietro Chiesa, and companies such as Artemide, Flos, Fontana Arte and Luceplan have made a significant contribution to the international success of Italian design.
The critical and commercial success of these products was only partially compensated by an adequate historical-critical reflection on the protagonists and the companies.
The volume aims to fill this gap in part by proposing an overview of a few significant episodes and protagonists chosen from the chronological period from the post-war period to the present. Not an exhaustive historical treatment, but a series of essays that investigate individual moments, the work of certain designers or movements, or a specific phase of the company's production or a type of product. To the point of reflecting on the changing landscape of contemporary design, the search for new qualities of light and new types of products.
