UNIVERSAL GENÈVE ART DECO WATCH CA. 1944
950,00 €
Here we present a rare "Tank" model, with an art deco case by Universal Genève.
This chrome-plated steel model is in superb condition for its 80 years of existence.
According to the serial numbers, the model was produced around 1944.
This model has the distinctive UOW import code stamped on the deck, the American import code for Universal Genève, indicating production for the American market.
It is therefore likely that this example was sold at Henri Stern's in New York, known at the time as Patek Philippe's official importer, and who had signed exclusive rights with Universal Genève for North America a few years earlier.
The watch is massive and imposing, with long handles that allow the use of a 20 mm wide bracelet. It is powered by a hand-wound mechanical caliber UG 263, a variation of the UG 262 caliber with a central second hand.
A piece of Universal Genève history.
